IPBAwards - Mind The Baby

#IPBAwards – they think it’s all over! It is now!

Oh lads!

I am knackered.

It’s T+3 days since the very first Glenisk Irish Parenting Blog Awards and I am done in!

But oh what a night! What a few months! What a bunch of amazing, beautiful, funny, sexy, intelligent, creative, crazy-talented bloggers. We came, we saw, we rocked it!

It all began with the sad demise of the Blog Awards Ireland, which hung up its hat earlier in 2015 after three great years.

So Irish Parenting Blog Awards 2015 had to happen. It had to. We need badges. We needed something to look forward to. We needed a good night out, dammit.

We were also keen to make sure that we had a fair and transparent judging process where no one had to campaign for votes and bloggers were recognised and rewarded by their peers. We fancied a bit of glamour too. No backwater inn for us. We needed full on class with bubbles and VIP areas. We don’t get out much see, so it needed to be worth it! Enter Odessa Club in Dublin city centre. We heart Odessa.

There were over 2,000 nominations, 85 qualifying bloggers, 53 judges, 29 finalists and 10 very worthy winners. It was a thing of beauty. We trended on Twitter when the nominations were announced earlier in April and then last Saturday night, we started trending at 6:30pm and DID NOT STOP until 4:30am. And then everyone got up with their kids at 5:30am and we trended until 12:30pm. Seriously, parenting bloggers have NOTHING to say. Or photograph.

#IPBAwards trending – 25 April 2015

I am so proud to have been involved in this year’s awards and to work with the awesome A Team of mama.ie, At The Clothesline, Raising Elves, Dolly Dowsie, The Busy Mamas and The Airing Cupboard. It was an honour and a privilege to bring these awards to Ireland’s Parenting Bloggers and an absolute LAUGH to MC on the night.

Of course none of it would have been possible without the incredible support and involvement of our sponsors. Glenisk were a brilliant partner and perfect fit as our headline sponsor as well as being a pleasure to work with. Our category sponsors were StenaLine, BEAR Nibbles, One4all, BirthingMamas, SuperHands, SEAT Ireland, Mykidstime, and Blacknight. Fab companies that understand the value and influence that parenting bloggers have. Hopefully if there’s an #IPBAwards2016 we might get to work together again.

A very special shout out to three of our talented bloggers. Suzy at the Airing Cupboard designed the beautiful #IPBAwards logo. Patricia from Colorines Wonderful made the gorgeous teapot prizes and Kellie from My Little Babog made the #IPBAwards hashtag sign that you can see in the picture at the top. Not just brilliant writers – but crafty and multi-talented.

Tell you what though, I desperately needed this on Sunday after the derig. I might party like a parenting blogger, but I recover like a lighweight.

  1. Ah I’m getting nostalgic already, what a great night and what a great job done by all of you guys organising it.

We parent bloggers are a force to be reckoned with for sure!

  2. So many great memories of a wonderful night. Thanks to you and all the team for your hard work and professionalism.
Now off to smile again and remember the craic we had.
(Don’t worry I’ll not mention the fact a missing award was discovered in your house the next day)

What do you think?
